Last week, the second annual Industrial Water Solutions event, hosted by the WateReuse Association and the Water Environment Federation, convened nearly 400 industrial and water sector leaders in Chicago, Illinois.
The event brought together municipal and industrial leaders for critical discussions around how key industries can adopt water reuse and resource recovery to protect community water resources, secure long-term operations, and drive prosperity.
Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Peggy Browne delivered the keynote address, emphasizing EPA’s role in helping facilitate the adoption of water reuse across the industrial sector. “I’m here today as an ally and a supporter,” she shared, encouraging participants to engage with EPA’s Water Reuse Action Plan 2.0, propose new actions, and engage with the Office of Water on new projects and initiatives.
The event featured industry-specific technical sessions featuring industry leaders across critical materials, high-tech, automotive, and food and beverage sectors. Discussions focused on regulatory obstacles, technology solutions, financing, public health considerations, and fostering partnerships among nonprofits, federal and state agencies, and industries to advance the adoption of reuse and resource recovery. |
